Grouping data in Tasks Spreadsheets

You can access the Tasks Spreadsheet grouping option from the upper right of the toolbar.

By default, items are grouped however you have set up your project structure.  This means if in your workflow schema you have defined parent-objects that will contain child-objects or tasks, this structure will be displayed.
 

Example: if your project contains shots that belong to specific sequences, you will see a hierarchical project structure with Tasks nested under Shots, and Shots nested underneath Sequences.
 

The grouping option in the toolbar will allow you change this grouping to help you view your project data in different configurations.  This grouping can be single-level or multi-level depending on what you would like to surface.

 

Single-Level Grouping

Clicking the Group button will open a dialogue window where you can choose how to configure your new grouping.

In the View drop-down select the object you would like to use as the top-level of your grouping.
 

In the Grouped by drop down select the Attribute you would like to group by. Attributes are listed alphabetically, and you can type to search if you have large project structures with many objects and attributes.

Tip: Custom attributes are included in the drop-down list.

Once you've selected the Attribute you would like to group by, click Save Changes to load your grouping into the Task Spreadsheet.
 

Example: This selection will display Shot information grouped by shot Status.

Multi-level Grouping


To add further sub-groups to your groupings when viewing data in the Task Spreadsheet, cick the Add sub group drop down, and select the next Attribute you would like to group by.

Continue to add as many sub-groups as you need depending on how you want the data to be organized.
 

Example: This selection will display Task information, grouped first by the task Assignee, then by the task Due date underneath each Assignee, then by the task Status underneath each Due date.

Your groupings can be saved as Saved Views so you can reload them again quickly whenever needed.
