New Create Project User Interface

This guide is designed to help you confidently navigate our updated user interface, create your project, and customise it to fit your needs.

Before You Begin: Understanding the Basics

It's completely normal to feel a bit overwhelmed when starting with a new tool. Our new interface is designed to make your project management experience smoother and more intuitive. Remember, we're here to help every step of the way.

Step 1: Creating a New Project

  • Start a New Project: In the dashboard, click on "Create New Project." Here, you’ll enter the basic details like project name and color.

    • Naming Your Project: Choose a unique and descriptive name for easy identification.
    • Color Coding: Select a color for your project. This helps in visually distinguishing your project on the dashboard.

Step 2: Setting Up Your Project

  • Choose Dates: Set the start and end dates for your project. This helps in tracking progress and deadlines.
  • Access Control: Decide whether your project should be private or public. This determines who can view and participate in your project.

Step 3: Selecting a Workflow

  • Choose a Template: We offer a variety of workflow templates. For instance, selecting the "animation" template provides you with pre-set tasks and objects tailored to animation projects.
  • Customisation: Feel free to adjust the workflow to suit your specific needs. This includes setting priorities, statuses, and task types.

Step 4: Customising Workflows

  • Empathetic Customisation: We understand that not every project is the same. Customise your workflow by adding or modifying ‘*objects’.
    • Example: If you're working on an animation, you might want to add specific ‘task-types’ related to storyboarding or character design.

Object-Types:

  • Universal Application: Object-types categorize the key components of a project, providing a structured overview regardless of the industry.
  • Examples:
    • News Reporting: Object-types could be 'Feature Articles', 'Interview Segments', 'Editorials', or 'News Bulletins'.
    • Social Media Content: Object-types might include 'Social Media Posts', 'Marketing Campaigns', 'Brand Stories', or 'Interactive Polls'.
    • Animation & VFX: In these creative fields, object-types could be 'Scenes', 'Characters', 'Visual Effects', or 'Storyboards'.

Task-Types:

  • Universal Application: Task-types detail the specific actions needed to complete each object-type, crucial for workflow management and progress tracking.
  • Examples:
    • News Reporting: Task-types might include 'Researching Topics', 'Scriptwriting', 'Video Editing', 'Graphic Design', and 'Publishing'.
    • Social Media Content: Common task-types could be 'Content Writing', 'Graphic Design', 'Video Production', 'Post Scheduling', and 'Engagement Analysis'.
    • Animation & VFX: Task-types here might involve 'Modeling', 'Rigging', 'Texturing', 'Animation', 'Lighting', 'Rendering', and 'Compositing'.

In each industry, object-types and task-types play a crucial role. For instance:

  • In news reporting, the object-type 'Feature Articles' would involve task-types like 'Researching Topics', 'Writing', and 'Editing'.
  • In social media content creation, for the object-type 'Marketing Campaigns', the task-types might include 'Concept Development', 'Content Creation', 'Audience Targeting', and 'Analytics Review'.
  • In animation, the object-type 'Characters' would require task-types such as 'Concept Art Creation', '3D Modeling', 'Rigging', and 'Texture Painting'.

By defining object-types and task-types clearly, project/production managers in any field can create a schedule that outlines what needs to be done (task-types) for each component of the project (object-types). This approach facilitates clear communication, efficient workflow management, and systematic tracking of project progress.

Step 5: Finalizing Your Project

  • Review and Create: Once you're satisfied with the settings and customisations, click on "Create Project."
  • Task Management: You’ll be directed to a task spreadsheet where you can start adding tasks and import any necessary objects.

FAQs

Q: Can all users create a new workflow schema when creating a new project?

A: Users who do not have access to system settings, but have user role permissions to create projects will see all available workflow schemas but will not be able to create, edit, or delete any of the objects or elements that are part of that workflow schema.
